FujiMod is a community firmware project by developer Jake (justjake) for older Fujifilm cameras with the EXR Processor II. The first working target is the Fujifilm X70 on firmware 1.10. The project page lists 23 new features. They include highlight-weighted metering, manual-focus snap focus, a 65:24 XPan-style crop, extra aspect ratios, an Ultrafine JPEG option, anamorphic desqueeze, date-named folders, unlimited named recipes pinned to C1-C7, and a film simulation editor that saves files to the card. The page also lists F-Log recording, HDMI output of the shooting view, touch input in menus, and assignable dials, rings and buttons.
Only the X70 has a complete build. The project tracker shows other EXR II bodies at earlier stages: X-E2, X-E2S, X-T10, X-A1, X-A2, X-M1, X20, X100S, X100T, X-T1, XQ1, XQ2 and X30. For those, firmware analysis is largely done, but nothing has been built or tested on a camera, and several are marked as needing an owner to test. Earlier stages are also listed for the X-T20 and X-T3. The X70 is a fixed-lens APS-C compact rather than an interchangeable-lens body.
The author cannot offer ready-made builds because of copyright. Users download the official firmware file from Fujifilm, upload it to fujimod.com, and the site patches it in the browser. The result can be run by dual-booting from an SD card without flashing, or installed as a flashable firmware update. An in-browser emulator lets anyone try the features without a camera.
The developer says not every feature has been tested on a real camera. Fuji Rumors advises against installing unofficial firmware and warns it could brick the camera. The sources do not say anything about warranty.
