As much as the Nikor 55mm is an awesome combination with the NEX-7, the focal length of the Nikor is a tad long for the captures I like to target. The Pentax 35mm f2 opens up greater possibilities. The 35mm focal length yields taller panoramic images—at f5.6, the lens provides highly detailed images with excellent contrast and color.
But the big surprise of this little gem is its macro capabilities—it is sharp wide open! At its closest focusing—at f2—it yields a sliver of depth-of-field (DOF). When you stop it down to f2.8, the DOF is still shallow and out-of-focus objects (OOFO) are nearly indistinguishable save for the color pattern.
On the NEX-7 the SMC Pentax-M 35mm f2 delivers images that are almost addictive. The package is small and light and highly versatile for both indoor and outdoor captures.
On an APS-C system, 35mm is a great focal length; this combination is a joy to use!
